Large public and private companies alike are facing sustainability reporting requirements. The European Union¡¯s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is by far the most sweeping sustainability regulation we have seen to date with potential to reshape the global market.
What is CSRD? CSRD is designed to bring transparency to corporate sustainability practices across industries. While the details of the regulation are still in flux, the anticipated reporting expectations are likely to require substantial resource investment from companies that have not approached sustainability risk management so comprehensively before. However, this reporting exercise offers an opportunity for companies to uplevel risk management by strategically integrating sustainability throughout their business.
