Los Angeles celebrates opening of the Metro D Line Extension

Long-anticipated upgrade will add travel options and connect city landmarks along Wilshire Boulevard
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority?(LA Metro)?and project partners are celebrating the opening of the?first section of the?Metro D (Purple) Line?Extension in?Los Angeles, a long-anticipated update to the city¡¯s metro system. The 3.9-mile extension is the first of?three?sections, connecting cultural and urban landmarks from historic Mid-Wilshire, Koreatown, and Downtown Los Angeles.?The extension?includes three new?stations and?will offer?residents?and visitors?expanded?options when traveling and commuting.
Stantec has?served as?LA Metro¡¯s construction manager on the project?for more than a decade, overseeing mainline and utility contracts, construction relations, and?providing?quality and safety oversight.?The?award-winning project?is one of?the?largest?transit expansions in the US.

In addition to drastically improving regional mobility, the extension is a critical infrastructure project designed to support the city's transit needs for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
