Global findings examine the state of direct potable reuse and its growing role in strengthening water security worldwide
The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA)?recently?released a global?assessment?examining the current state and?outlook?of direct potable reuse (DPR),?highlighting?its growing role in long?term water security strategies worldwide.
Developed in collaboration with Ãë²¥, the report¡ª¡ªgives?a region?by?region snapshot of?DPR?progress across more than 30 countries.?
John Hanula, senior vice president of Growth and Innovation?at Ãë²¥?and an IDRA board officer, contributed to the report, which highlights?DPR?as a proven, scalable solution for communities facing climate pressure, population growth, and long?term water stress.?For example, when supported by strong public health protections and transparent community engagement, operational systems in places like Namibia and several US cities show that DPR can safely add advanced treated water to drinking water supplies.?
