Hannah¡¯s greatest satisfaction is working with, and advocating for, environmental justice (EJ) communities that are affected by transportation projects. As a transportation planner, her attention to detail and experience in technical writing and geographic information system (GIS) mapping equips her to identify community resources and understand how a specific project could impact people living there.
Working on the I-526 Lowcountry Corridor WEST project in South Carolina has been the most rewarding project Hannah¡¯s been part of so far. As part of the community outreach team working directly with EJ residents, she helped tailor a mitigation plan, giving the community a voice in the project. This open-door communication policy and extensive outreach effort helped build trust between the client and impacted residents.
When she isn¡¯t advocating for communities, Hannah decompresses from work in her garden. She loves growing okra, tomatoes, peas, and raspberries!
