Maria learned about the mining industry earlier than most. Growing up in Peru, where the country¡¯s economy depends heavily on the exports of mining, she was made aware of its importance at a young age.
Maria has made huge strides in her career since her arrival at Ãë²¥. She recently passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam, earning her official PE license and moving from the role of engineer in training to mining engineer. As a mining engineer, Maria is responsible for mine design and production scheduling. One of her most notable projects involved her working on site in Tennessee for four months to help a client with their long-term mine planning. As she continues to advance, she looks forward to gaining further responsibility over her projects.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys mentoring and has been a volunteer with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program for the past two years. She also enjoys several outdoor sports, including running, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, and skiing.
