Mariani¡¯s journey began in Brazil where she was inspired by local sanitation challenges to pursue impactful roles in research, consultancy, and infrastructure delivery. Now based in Newcastle, she pursues her passion for nature-based approaches, water reuse, and empowering women in engineering.
As a senior process engineer, Mariani contributes to wastewater improvement projects in the Northumbrian Water AMP8 framework. Her role focuses on river quality enhancement and sustainable solutions. This includes nature-based treatment options such as constructed wetlands and catchment strategies. She brings technical Ãë²¥, cross-cultural insight, and a deep commitment to environmental and social impact to any project she works on.
Mariani is a chartered member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and an Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Sustainability Award winner. She continually seeks opportunities to deepen her Ãë²¥ in nature-based solutions, carbon life cycle analysis, and sustainable design, while mentoring others and supporting diversity in the industry.?
