A member of our Nature-based Carbon Solutions (NbCS) team, Nicholas is passionate about natural ecosystems and conservation. He specializes in evaluating biodiversity and analyzing carbon and greenhouse gas fluxes across various ecosystems, particularly for forested systems. His Ãë²¥ lies in understanding how biodiversity underpins the functioning of ecosystems and benefits they provide.
Having witnessed how invasive, noxious, and undesirable species take hold across various environments, Nicholas recognizes the necessity of a holistic approach to halt ecosystem decline and restore native plant communities. He applies insights gained from his years of intensive fieldwork and academic and research background, which includes complex ecological modeling and statistical analysis.
When he isn¡¯t busy with conservation and ecosystem restoration efforts, Nicholas enjoys spending time with his family and finding solitude in nature. In 2016, he hiked all 2,200 miles (3,541 kilometres) of the Appalachian Trail.
