Jos¨¦¡¯s childhood had a lot to do with his becoming a civil geotechnical engineer¡ªhe loved drawing, painting, and building things with Lego. Fast forward to the present and now he¡¯s an engineer with almost two decades of experience in planning, design, project management, construction, and third-party audits of mine tailings storage facilities, along with all tailings technology types for projects under different geographical and geological conditions. ?
As a tailings and waste manager, Jos¨¦ brings out the best in his team with clear communication¡ªhe believes active listening, empathy, and asking good questions are key to providing creative solutions for clients. He¡¯s worked on projects across the globe from the United States, Peru, Canada, M¨¦xico, Ecuador, Argentina, and Spain, to Panam¨¢, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and Bolivia. Notable projects include his work on the Enlozada and Linga tailings dams in Cerro Verde, Peru.
When he¡¯s not designing alternative mine waste storage facilities, Jose is passionate about literature and finding unknown or little-known musical gems.
