100 Rock Row
Waterstone Development wanted to pay tribute to Maine¡¯s timber heritage with 100 Rock Row. They engaged our team to design this commercial office building to be a landmark in sustainable development.
Supported by a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this is the first commercial office building in the state to primarily use cross-laminated timber (CLT). As a natural, renewable resource, wood reduces carbon emissions by 30 percent compared to steel or concrete and promotes health, wellness, and productivity. Mass timber construction enhances indoor air quality, sound absorption, and thermal performance, while offering timeless warmth and character.
The wood forward design for 100 Rock Row celebrates the natural appeal of the renewable material. It offers a refreshing workplace with vibrant, ground-floor retail. With open floor plans, 12-foot (3.7-metre) ceilings, and expansive windows framing views of a natural quarry, the building presents a modern workplace immersed in nature.
