Expanding digital connectivity and closing the digital divide requires major infrastructure investments while managing environmental and carbon impacts. We also develop AI-powered mapping tools in support of digital transformation and entrepreneurship and of accelerating achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.Space-based Earth observation
Space-based Earth observation (EO) is used to track changes in ecosystems, monitor emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants, manage natural resources and disaster risks, make agriculture resilient, plan land uses, infrastructure development, and more. We help uptake of EO capabilities to support innovation and sustainable development, foster the development and use of practical geospatial applications based on EU Copernicus data and services, and build EO-related technical and institutional capacities with ad hoc trainings.
